Netease Sports reported on October 18:
Veteran guard Rondo made great contributions to the Lakers' championship, but what is not known is that he almost retired five years ago.
ESPN host Rachel Nicholas revealed that Rondo was discouraged after ending the contradictory season of the Lone Ranger five years ago, and once considered retiring and ending his basketball career.
"He told me that he almost retired a few years ago because of the disastrous experience that happened between him and Carlisle. Everyone was accusing him at the time. He said that only two teams contacted him during the off season." Rachel said.
"He was thinking about retiring, ‘maybe I don’t want to play basketball anymore.’ At that time, he might indeed retire."
Rondo said that he was traded to the Maverick by the Celtics in December 2014. As a result, due to the conflict of tactical concepts and coach Carlisle, he had trouble with coach Carlisle. In the playoffs, Carlisle backed him with Rondo. The injury was used as an excuse not to let him play. After that, Rondo left the team indefinitely and completely broke with the Lone Ranger.
After that, Rondo began a roaming career, playing briefly for the Kings, Bulls and Pelicans, and joined the Lakers in the summer of 2018. Fortunately, he found spring here, and he has thoroughly proved himself this season.
